In the first chapter Judy talks about the extraordinary links among people’s movements around the world. Starting with the anti-globalization movement and the Zaptista’s, most of the chapter focuses on the extraordinary development of the World Social Forum. Basing the chapter on her own experiences, Judy gives us a sense of what a new world could be through the open, horizontal and democratic organizing of this extraordinary new institution.

“At the World Social Forum in 2003, it became clear to me that the forum was really a process more than a product. The WSF has given us a new way of talking to one another, a new way of sharing our experience, and the impact is extraordinary. On so many levels, the spirit of the WSF has created multiple dialogues that may very well promote transformation.”

Re: Zapatistas

Typo: The name of the movement in Mexico is the Zapatistas, not Zaptista's.
