I wanted to respond to your book which i finally had the time to read.
It's really excellent and inspiring.
The only thing you don't cover is the brutality which elites in power are ready to apply to maintain power, often supported by outside vested interests.

To name just a few
- Chile's Pinochet with the help of ATT
- Honduras
- Guatemala 30 years ago
- The Spanish civil was, when Hitler supported Franco

others, not blatantly supported by outside forces:
- Thailand this spring
- Tiananmen Square
- Holocaust in Germany
- Rwanda
- Greece in the 60's
The Military as a force of the state or of vested powers needs to be discussed as instrument of power. Just because the resources of the US are extremely stretched at the moment they are limited in overthrowing some of challenges they normally would have - Bolivia, Venezuela, Cuba etc.

This doesn't dispute the inspiring developments you describe - it just needs to acknowledge their extreme fragility. - May be in the 2nd edition?
