You should be aware that the protesters are not Tamil Tigers, they are ordinary Tamil Canadians living here and paying taxes. Part of the problem is that alot of people, including our government does not make the distinction. Most of them have family who have been killed over the past months in Sri Lanka or are in danger of being killed right now. If you went down to the protest to talk with them, you would see that they are just trying to save the lives of their families.
As to the young people, I have been down at the a few of the demos and find the young people the most articulate in expressing why they are demonstrating. It's ridiculous to say they are using children as shields, against who?...the Metro police? Every Tamil demonstration I've been on has children and babies for that matter because mothers are bringing them. It does mean that the police are less likely to move in and I don't see that as a problem.
