Response to Mat
Mat,
The Canadian Tamil community is not asking our Government to send our troops or our money. They are asking for our government to be a voice against genocide through the UN, other international organizations, and through the application of political and economic sanctions against Sri Lanka.
I understand you are venting (to a degree), and as you've stated your Sept 11 analogy is an exaggeration. Here is one that is not - The government of SL killed about as many civilians on Mother's Day as Al Qaeda did on Sept 11.
I realize given the way international media reports the SL conflict this was not apparent and is part of the problem in convincing our elected officials and fellow Canadians to take action against SL to bring about an end to the killings.
Regards,
Raj
