Sometimes what didn't happen is the story. The party under Layton has not embraced the third way. Perhaps the NPI's too brief role within the party helped to deter that. Plus the mostly progressive face of the unions today. This at least is progress from the days of the Waffle when the party and union leadership were reactionary in the face of radicalism.
