WHEN: Tuesday, April 14th, 7 p.m.
WHERE: University of Victoria, Harry Hickman Building, Room 105
MAP: http://www.uvic.ca/buildings/hhb.html
INFO: transformingpower@gmail.com

University of Victoria School of Environmental studies presents a.n evening with Judy Rebick, activist, scholar, writer.  She will present ideas from her new book, "Transforming Power: From the Personal to the Political".

Judy champions new paths to social and political change that emphasize compassion, embracing diversity, participatory democracy, and radical equality.  She will be presenting images from her global tour and discussions with change-makers, as well as presenting stories of people who are transforming their communities, their cities and their countries.

Judy argues that today's combination of environmental crisis, globalization, and rapid technological innovation is producing profound new ideas about social and political life, and that this groundswell is truly a global movement to change the way we live our lives, from the ground up.

Copies of her book will be available for sale and signing.

Look forward to meeting you

Hi Stuart,

Maybe we can go out for a drink after the Victoria event.  I doubt it will be too big and the event itself might be a good place for diaologue.  Let's see.

Judy

Opportunity to meet and talk?

Oh good, Judy is coming to Victoria. For a while, I thought the last outpost of the British Empire was being forgotten. Now I don't have to hurdle the new "security" barriers and cameras installed at the BC Ferries terminals to go over to Vancouver to hear her speak.

See http://majoritycoalition.ca/2009/03/the-age-of-razor-wire/

Will there be an opportunity to meet and talk with Judy and others in a more relaxed, smaller setting? It would be good to explore how people in Victoria can link with others across Canada in the struggle to transform the political power structure of our society.

Thanks to Judy for all her work over the years, and for this latest book.
